Scott Smith Shows Made Heart Against Cung Le at Strikeforce
One of the most exciting and impressive wins that I’ve ever seen in the UFC was when Scott Smith fought Pete Sell at The Ultimate Fighter Finale 4. Sell landed a devastating blow on Smith and rushed in for the kill as Smith went down. Smith threw one last punch in desperation and landed it perfectly on Sell’s chin to KO him. Well last night’s fight against Cung Le didn’t end with the same intensity, but damn near close to it. The first few minutes of the fight looked like they were going to end early. Cung Le landed a spinning back kick that knocked Smith down and almost ended the fight in a ground and pounch. What followed was 3 straight rounds of Cung Le domination. Le landed spinning back kick after back kick each and every round, until the last minutes of the 3rd. As Le appeared to be slowing down on the kicks, Smith and Le exchanged punches. Smith faked a right and threw his powerful left hook sending Le to the canvas. Smith pounced and continued to strike Le as he scrambled to survive, but Smith landed one final right blow to send Le to the canvas ending his winning streak.
